The kids and I came home Saturday night to a very happy, relieved man. I think Brian was afraid I'd spend all summer back home. We DID have such a good time visiting trains, having beach time, swimming, and playing with cousins. It was good to have a big chunk of time to stay and really see everyone... except, I really didn't see everyone. We had family visiting from out of town, and just the day to day got in the way of really seeing any friends. So I left with wake of broken plans that I had hoped to make come true. Maybe next time!
On our very first day home (well, my old home), we went to a local arboretum that has an amazing model train garden. I'm not exactly crazy for trains like Fletcher, but I love this place. The flowers and trees they use are just gorgeous, and it makes for a pretty place to spend an afternoon.
The "engineers" let us come down and see the room where the trains rest and get worked on, which was like a 5 year old boy dream come true. It was a stellar day for Fletcher! If you ever find yourself in Northwest Indiana, Taltree Arboretum is just an amazing place to visit. The rest of the gardens are just as gorgeous.
If you love trains, you're gonna love the next couple posts. Fletcher had his birthday while were back home, and so it was a train extravaganza. I'm sorry in advance (not sorry). And now I plan on spending all my downtime today catching up on what all of my favorite blog friends have been up to! It feels good to be back. Even while I'm plotting the next visit back to my old home.
What a cool place! I'm glad you're home. :)
ReplyDeleteVery cool, my rascals would love it there I´m sure! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are back. Great photos, as usual. I can't wait to see more pictures of our home town. Traveling is hard work though. All of our company is gone now so it should be quiet on the southwestern front for awhile. Even Kayleigh is in San Diego with her mom til next week.
ReplyDeleteI really want to plan a visit to come and see you...and you and Brian and the kids should come out to AZ when the weather gets a bit cooler. We could take you guys to see some great things!
Is it me, or is Fletcher looking more and more like Brian these days? Also, that train place looks like Sam's dream. So glad y'all had fun catching up with family and being "back home." ;)
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! I'm glad you all had a great time and your boy enjoyed the trains. :)
