Yesterday AND today the base and schools have closed for snow! It's not actually snowing today, but yesterday the world became encased in ice. We had a strange mix of snow, sleet, rain, hail, with a little thunder mixed in for drama. Brian slipped and slid to get wood for the fireplace, and tried to snowblow a bit. The snow barely budged with all the ice covering it.
Back home in the Chicagoland area, they would just salt the crap outta the roads, and we'd all just carry on. Here in Missouri they used beet juice. Beet juice, I kid you not. I have no idea if it works, or if they actually put it on our roads here, but our roads around the neighborhood are still a sheet of ice.
So we're sitting tight, and I've been knocking things off my list. I'm catching up on my make something project, and it seems like I've been only doing embroidery. I may have to throw a painting into the mix this weekend.
What are your weekend plans?
Snow days! I have to say I'm a little jealous. We haven't had a single snow day this year or last year. It's getting a little ridiculous. At least we've had some real cold weather this year - that's an improvement over last. I'm loving all your projects! They are so cute! Hope y'all enjoy your winter weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteRuthie, you have SUCH your own creative style and it's beautiful! I really hope one day there can be a website I can visit, order, and PAY for these things because they are so great! And I'd love to be able to chip in for your supplies. It only seems fair. Anyway, have a great weekend with your family! xoxo K
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous of your snow! The only time I've seen snow this winter was when we were back home in MA for Christmas. It snows 12 flakes here and people think the WORLD IS ABOUT TO END.
ReplyDeleteI looove those embroideries! The elephant and flower ones are especially cute.
Your embroidery is so pretty! We salt here... we salt the roads so much that sometimes there's more salt than snow, it's a bit much. It also rusts the crap out of cars but I guess that's better than sliding in the road. Beet juice? Really? Sounds kind of cool to me. Enjoy the ice storm!
ReplyDeleteI find it so strange to hear thunder in the winter. Seems out of place with snow. We have had a weird mix of weather too. Beet juice? Interesting. You would think that would make a big ole mess. At least it's natural though. Your projects are all so beautiful. You are very talented. I agree you should sell your pieces one day. :)
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful Ruthie! If that is what you produce when you are snowed in, may you be snowed in for days to come lol!
ReplyDeleteBeet juice?! I had NO clue, why? Is that really working?
