I've been getting a lot of questions lately about my little project make something. I thought I would just do a post about it here, and then I can refer all the questions to this post!
Q: Are you still working on your project to make something?
A: Yes. I have been working on this project since February, and get 4 to 6 projects in the mail each month. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Having said that, I am only roughly 1/4 of the way through the list.
Q: Did you forget about me/take me off your list?
A: NO!!! Like I said above, it is just taking me time to get through the list. I have a husband, two small children, a house, a garden, and just life in general that comes first. This is my hobby, not my job. Please, please be patient with me.
Q: Can you make me the exact same thing as what I saw on Instagram/your blog/Pinterest/etc?
A: Maybe. You can always ask. I am trying to accommodate everyone's tastes and wishes, but I am also trying to stretch my wings and make new things each time I make something.
Q: Are you only doing embroidery? What about drawings or painting?
A: It has been embroidery heavy, simply because embroidery can be taken with me where ever I go. Much more easily than painting or even drawing. And with multiple summer trips coming up, I have a feeling embroidery will still be my go-to something to make.
Q: I'd like to buy something. Do you have a shop?
A: Not yet. I was hoping this project would help me create a discipline that I could use when opening a shop. I'm still working on that discipline, so I'm thinking that sometime in Autumn I will try my hand at an Etsy shop. No guarantee, though.
Q: Can I get on the list?
A: Not anymore, I am so so so very sorry. Look. I thought I could just chug away at crossing off the list, but my list was doubling faster than I could make something, so I had to put a deadline on it back in March. I hope that when my shop is opened, you can get exactly what you wanted.
Q: Is this a gimmick for a shop you're opening? Is this advertising?
A: Not really. I'm hoping that I will have built a little more exposure by the time I open a shop (IF I open a shop) but I started this project to keep my hands busy, and to spread a little bit of happiness. That is my hope, anyway.
Q: Are you crazy?
A: Definitely.
Q: Can I send you something in return?
A: Of course! But I also encourage you to send something on to someone else who might need a little cheering up, or just a happy surprise.
I hope that answers everything. If you do have another question, feel free to ask, and I can update this post. Thanks for all the questions and interest in my project, friends!
This is a great post! I enjoy hearing more about your wonderful project. I could never imagine getting so much done. You are amazing...and talented! I look forward to seeing more, and I definitely think you should open a shop. :)
ReplyDeleteI´m amazed, don´t think I´d have the energy! :-)
ReplyDeleteAs the recipient of several of your treasures over the years, I find that they are surely worth the wait. I am sure everyone loves getting the packages from you. That green one up there is especially awesome. Love how to the stitching goes in different directions. Looks time consuming and heartfelt.
ReplyDeleteA shop would be brilliant Ruthie, truly!!
ReplyDeleteYou're a sweet sweet person. Love the photo collection of all your project make somethings. I think you should open up an instagram account just for your projects. All the stuff you've made. That would be so cool! Hope you're resting today!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry. But I can't help but feeling a little defensive if people are getting impatient with you. Is that true? Because this whole project is just so lovely and generous. You are one of a kind!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a sweet sweet person, Ruthie! I love seeing your photos on IG of all of your completed projects. You're so incredibly talented and I know it is such a heart-warming feeling to open up a package containing one of your one-of-a-kind pieces. :)
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely open an Etsy shop!! Your things are so much nicer than a lot of what I've seen on etsy, and I have spent a SIGNIFICANT amount of time there! ;)
ReplyDelete♥
I love that Jenn and I said the exact same thing. Because I think then you know it's definitely true. Sweet sweet person, with an emphasis on the second "sweet." You are.
