a thankful three year old

Have you noticed everyone on facebook adding something that they are thankful for every day for all of November?  I thought that was a nice idea, but I'm kinda lazy.  Trust me, I am so thankful for all that I have and all the blessings I have received.  And I make sure to be grateful every day of my life.  But to actually log it on facebook?  Well, I knew I'd forget or just not get around to it.  So I had an idea.  I'd ask Fletcher every day what he was thankful for.  It took a little explaining, but I think he's got the idea.  So I'll try and jot down what he says each day and update you here.  Because I know you're on the edge of your seat waiting to see what a 3 year old has to say.

November 1:
Me: Hey Fletcher, what are you thankful for today?
Fletcher: Ummmmm.  Uhhhhh.  You?
Me:  Aw, me?  You're thankful for mama?
Fletcher: Yes!  Can I have some trick or treat candy now?
Me:  Man, you are SMART.

November 2:
Me: Hey Fletcher, what are you thankful for today?
Fletcher: Food.
Me: All food?
Fletcher: Yes.
Me: Even grapes?
Fletcher:  No, not grapes.  I don't like grapes.
Me: Got it.

November 3:
Me: Hey Fletcher, what are you thankful for today?
Fletcher: Ummmm.  I don't know.
Me: How about your toys?
Fletcher: Noooooo...
Me: What are you happy to have?
Fletcher: Shoes.
Me: Not toys?
Fletcher: Yes.  Shoes and toys.

November 4:
Me: Hey Fletcher, what are you thankful for today?
Fletcher: This thing.
Me: The toy catalogue?
Fletcher: Yes, the toy catalogue.

Well, we were on a roll.  But then the Target toy catalogue came in the mail yesterday and he has been poring over it.  He wants to be good and ready when Santa asks what he wants for Christmas.

I haven't been able to pry it from his fingers.  I hope we can move past it when I ask what he is thankful for tomorrow.
